Pet Shop Boys, Better Late then Never

Pet+Shop+Boys+Perform+Madrid+q5hAnat9fbdl

This past weekend was the Pet Shop Boy concert here in Atlanta. They played Chastain Park here in Atlanta. Which is an outdoor venue and has a time when the concert must be over or face noise ordnance fines. This really is the first time I have been to Chastain for a concert. So we got there early to make sure we got where we needed to go. The concert was to start at 8 and we got there at 7 PM. One thing you should know is that you can bring in your own food and drink into the venue. So when we entered the ticket taker said we were traveling light. We ate before the concert down the road and were ready to go.

So we got there and just hung out, I got a concert program, which I love those, not sure why but I try to get them for all the concerts I go to. Then Mike and Todd got a first of many beverages (you can tell that from the podcast about the concert). Then we go back and sit down. We notice that our row is filling up when the ones around us aren’t. Luckily the lesbians next to us moved back a row when the concert started.

So, 8 PM comes and goes and nothing, then we notice they start moving boxes on the stage. So, I”m like great they will start in a few. No, not exactly the graphics don’t seem to be lining up right, so they build the boxes to the sky, and its now 8:30 and I think, they can’t do this much more. They had, as we termed him DJ Grinning Idiot come out and play bad music. I was ready to smack him. We now are approaching George Micheal territory. He was about 45 minutes late. Then we pass that time, and I”m getting pissed, wondering if they are going to do a concert, I was to the point they were going to come out and say “Sorry no concert” but they didn’t, they finally took the stage at 9:15. Which kinda pissed me off since they usually start on time.

As soon as they took the stage, I was at ease. They kicked it off with HeartBeat, as you can see on the top picture. Then3870084151_3730eb565f they moved in to some new stuff and some great older material. If you listen to Todd they were too old heavy. But the one thing I loved hearing them sing was Se a vida e from Billngual. I don’t think I have heard that in concert before. I have heard Red Letter Day before but nothing else. They also would start off singing one song and go into another. Another surprise was the cover of Cold Plays Viva la Vida. It was really good. Niel Dressed up at a King.

I have three favorite things they had were the dancing buildings. They had the four dancers dress up as buildings in NYC. They were the Citibank Building, Crystler building and maybe Empire State Building and forget the other. And they danced. I really wanted them to see dance to NYC Boy, but they didn’t it was the 2 Divided by Zero and We Should Live together. Then they had box people. As you can see by the other pic. It was really cool, they danced and it was awesome. The last thing they did was in Jelousy, they had two dancers really go at it. It was a staged dance fight. At the end they started throwing the boxes at each other. They were awesome.

Then the most trippy moment of the nite involved when the boxes started to fly! I was like I haven’t been drinking! But it was amazing what they did with the boxes, they came out through them in a door, then they knocked them down, and constantly rearranging them through out the concert. They never disappoint!

If you have never seen them, go see them. This is my fourth time I have seen them. Every tour since Nightlife. They put on an amazing show and really entertain.

New iPods, iTunes and more!

Apple released the annual new iPods. And this time they didn’t disappoint. They added some major new updates.

They released a whole new line of shuffles. They now have colors and glad to see the Green Back. They are a better size if you ask me the inch by inch one before I would so loose. I thought of getting a shuffle when I go to the gym, but I’d have to actually get to the gym.

The Nano has been redesigned. You can now shoot video and listen to the radio. A lot of people have complained there is no FM receiver in the ipod. Now you can listen to the radio, but if you’re like me I have the iPod so I don’t have to listen to the radio. But the really cool thing is the camera. I am interested in knowing how it does? Like battery life, resolution and such. This will really give Flip a run for their money if it’s a good camera. You would only have to carry one thing instead of two.

There are also new iPod Touches. I”m really surprised they have upped the higher storage size. They now come in 8GB, 32 GB adn 64 GB. The sucky part is that is $399 for the 64 GB model. I’m like what ever. You can get a 160 GB classic, which I have (well 80 GB) for $250. The screen isn’t large but it holds everything.

then there is the new iTunes. The things i like best are the redesign of the whole store. It’s easier to navigate now. Its cleaner. Also the download of podcasts is easier to see. The top window shows what you are downloading. Then the most awesome is the social media aspect, you can share with facebook and twitter.

So over all the new iPods and iTunes are great. I wish I had money to get one! But soon!

Flickr Update

Brink… Is No More

One of my favorite shows on the Science Channel, yes I said Science Channel, is no more! Which makes me a little sad and a little mad. The show is called Brink, it was hosted by Josh Zepps from Australia. It was a science news show about all things science and ground breaking. First it was on Friday Nights, then Monday Nights then Tuesday Nites, The constant moving around let me know something was up.

I DRV’ed it because I never know when the Science Channel would have it on. When I watched this past episode, they said it was the last. I went WTF? Yes the show I had loved, because it made you think, have new perspectives and lets face it, it was kinda geeky and I”m down with my geek side. As you may have read, I think the self described geeks/nerds are my type for dating, and they are so cute to me. But enough of that, I’ve done that post before.

They have profiled space tourism, energy made from fungi, and what ever else geek you can think of, and yes there have been many robots too! They also had contributors, and one of them (back to the geeky boys) is Jonah Leher. who is, according to his website:

I’m a Contributing Editor at Wired and the author of How We Decide and Proust Was a Neuroscientist. I graduated from Columbia University and studied at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. I’ve written for The New Yorker, Nature, Seed, The Washington Post and The Boston Globe. I’m also a Contributing Editor at Scientific American Mind and National Public Radio’s Radio Lab.

Plus I think he’s so damn cute. Yeah ok, I admit this is probably some great eye candy and another reason why I watched it, but how many str8 guys watched Baywatch for the plot? But, I actually did learn a bit from the show. I am a Discovery Channel, National Geographic Network junkie. I love watching just about everything on these. I love the science, astronomy and just learning. Its fun to me believe it or not.

Well they have moved on and have now the Popular Science show. Which just isn’t the same. I don’t see their host dressing up as his evil European twin, or having the final moments a la Jerry Springer. If you missed it there is a clip above. Check it out and I found out Josh Zepps is a commedian and hosting a new show soon on another network. I don’t remember what it was off the top of my head.

But so long Brink, you were one of my favorite shows!

It’s official, the 5th Season of the Mary Tyler Moore Show will be out on Oct 8th! I can’t wait, its been maybe three years since season 4 came out. They initially talked about doing a Series set, but I guess relented when so many people were pissed about it. I can’t wait to won the entire series. I love this show. :) I just hope I”ll have enough money to buy it!
